Today’s outdoor portrait photoshoot poses features me wearing a black jumpsuit outfit and chunky heels which are perfect summer shoes. I have a short bang bob wig which complements the whole outfit and gives more dynamic to it and pearl necklace which are not only elegant but are also match with my nose ring. The red lipstick is matte which means it does not come off easily and also the light can bounce off it.
Why a jumpsuit outfit
- An all time classy outfit.
- It come in many styles; Casual to fancy, hence works for different types of photoshoots.
- A jumpsuit is one piece of clothing, making it easy to style. This simplicity lets you focus more on posing and less on what to wear.
- A jumpsuit creates a smooth, long line from top to bottom, making you look taller and more elegant in photos.

Outdoor Portrait Photoshoot Poses
a) Location
This photoshoot took place on our balcony. It was a quick and easily place accessible place so we decided to go with it. Besides as mentioned on my outdoor fitness photoshoot it is also very spacious. However, we could have achieved these outdoor portrait photoshoot poses on any other outdoor location. So do not be limited to your balcony.
Other places you can do this photoshoot
- On clean streets
- Outdoor staircases
- Deserted place for example, a location with rocks, or a lot of sand
b) Outdoor portrait photoshoot poses
These are the poses that I did, I will be explaining how you can duplicate them too.
Pose 1
Both hands holding the upper part of the jumpsuit and an intense stare straight into the camera and a slight body tilt to the side. The purpose of this shot is to make a connection with the camera, which after the shot will be with the person viewing the photo. Also this is a medium close up shot which emphasizes more on the upper body. Best for showing the makeup, any jewelry you might have while still capturing your body.

Pose 2
This is slightly the same pose. However, I have my hands on the pearl instead and also since it is medium long shot. This would have showed the location slightly but the lense blurred the background more. This pose is good since it also shows more of the outfit without revealing it all. But you can see the difference between the two poses and shots as one is more of the model, makeup and jewelry while the second is more on the outfit and the location.

Pose 3
This is pose is great as I show a different side of me as a model. I am smiling and also not facing the camera directly. In this pose, choose your best side. You can either place your hand on the shoulder, on the hair or on the neck. I love this pose and portrait photoshoot as it is more inviting and not super fierce.
Other places to place your hand on;
- The shoulder
- Neck
- Hair

Pose 4
Even though I am smiling a little on this pose it is more intense than pose 3 since I am looking straight into the camera. You can also change the hand from right to left and place the hand across your waist.

Pose 5
This is a beautiful medium long shot which shows the neck pearl as I have my hand on it. I have also changed the hand position and placed it on my leg, this pose is great as the hands are on different directions/positions which brings a little excitement the pose.

Pose 6
I love this pose as it shows my curve side and also it has an intensity as I am looking straight into the camera. With this pose, just make sure the hand that is not on your shoulder does not hide your curve. You can pick to either show your shoes or just crop them off as Sami did in this pose.

Pose 7
This is my overall best shot as it shows the outfit, I have an intense look staright to the camera, my whole outfit + shoes can be seen, my body is also looking good, which is the overall goal for most of the models. The leg on top of the something brings angels which draw views to the portrait pose.

Overall posing tips for outdoor portrait photoshoot poses when wearing a jumpsuit
- Lean against a tree, wall, or railing for a casual, candid feel.
- Turn your body or lift your arms to showcase the jumpsuit’s design.
- Keep your expressions soft and genuine; avoid stiff or forced poses.
- If you do not have a tiny waist and you want to achieve one, you can use a belt.
Lighting and Camera equipment
The camera and lense used was; Sony A7RIV camera and Sigma 85mm 1.4 lens. I only used one light which was a Godox AD200 combined with a white umbrella. The pros of using 85mm 1.4 lens is that it narrows the field of view and blurs the background. Basically there are no distracting elements because this lens totally melts the background so your model is the centerpiece of the scene. White umbrella is also easy to carry around when comparing to other bigger and clumsier lighting modifiers.
