Pink Dress Photoshoot Poses
I have divided this article into four parts, location, camera and lighting gear, the makeup the outfit, and lastly the poses.
The location
This was a parking garage that we came across when Sami and I were having one of our evening walks. It was a huge place as it was divided into different floors. For example there were stairs which we used for the establishing shot and then we moved inside where used different parts of it to complete the whole session. The downside about these stairs were that they were too wide and taking one step from one stair to the other was a little bit difficult. It took more than one take to get it right.

Location tips
- Always try and find interesting elements to interact with for example in pose 4.
- The stairs were a bit wide so I would advise to try and take longer steps and also take your time and shoot until you get the perfect shot.
- You can also use the wide stairs to totally elongate your legs making them appear longer than they actually are.
The camera and lighting gear
We used the tube lights, the main light was 5600 color temperature and the rimlight was pink in color. Our main idea was to use the rimlight to emphasize the whole pink theme. We used Canon R6 and Canon 24-70 mm 2.8 lens.
The Makeup for the pink dress photoshoot poses
I did it all myself and I took an emphasis on the eyeshadow and also under lower eyelashes. Which were both pink. I also applied my own made lip gloss and added a pink color on top. I used foundation only and and under eye highlighter. For the eyes, besides the eyeshadow, I also had an eyeliner. I tried to keep it as elegant and simple as possible since I already had a bright colored dress that I was working with.

The outfit
I bought this outfit during the barbie’s premier last year and the shoes I have had since forever. I love that they matched well even though they had been bought at different times. About the dress it is really comfortable and the super long slit made it easier for me to walk. It is also a summer dress as it is very airy and I love it’s front part.
The poses
I have numbered the above poses 1- 3 for easier reference.
Pose 1
Place your hands on the waist and put one leg slightly forward. Have your weight on the behind leg. Look straight to the camera to bring a fierce connection between you and the person that is checking your pictures. Also the hands on the waist has a better outcome as compared to the hands just being on the side of your hips.
Pose 2
This was more of an establishing shot to show the whole outfit and the environment. In this pose I am taking a step forward on the stairs. To achieve this pose you should walk and take big steps then your photographer can take multiple shots. If you try to pose as if you are walking it looks unnatural.
Pose 3
Hands on top of the head with a smile and eyes closed. This pose emphasizes on the overall feelings that I had. Pink outfit especially a dress is lady-like and this pose sets the mood really well. Closing the eyes also shows the eye make as mentioned before. However, be careful not to smudge your hair with the hands.
Pose 4
This pose was more of showing the shoes it is an elegant pose that lets people get a closer look at your shoe. For such a pose to work, you need to take a step and it is also better if the photo is taken for the side to show the heel.
Pose 5
This was a part of the garage we thought to use. There was a wire mesh that provided a cool color contrast. In this pose one hand is on my hip and the other hand is on the wire mesh. I love this pose since it’s like a silhouette of me.
Pose 6
This is a close up, you can see the pink light gives my hair a pink shine which is a contrast to the one side where my hand has been placed. To achieve this pose look directly into the camera and smile. Place one hand on the hair remember not to smudge the hair.
Pose 7
This pose has one leg crossed on top of the other. This pose shows angels and with the hands stretched out making the pose even more dynamic. To make this pose work make sure you support yourself. Avoid smiling to make this pose even more fierce. I love this pose as it showed my stiletto shoe.
Overall posing tips
- Placing hands on waist when the dress is maxi helps show your tiny waist.
- Use the slit on your dress to emphasis your long legs.
Remember that these pink dress photoshoot poses can be made fun and easy if you know which poses you are making.
